This weekend my husband Bob and I celebrated our anniversary with dinner at Westsound Cafe at The Kingfish Inn. After being for sale all last year and closed for the winter, the Inn reopened this month under new ownership.
The menu is all new but I was thrilled to find my favorite fish tacos still offered. They were slightly different, but just as good. And this time, instead of being served in a basket with soggy bottom paper it came on a square china plate. Prices seemed about the same.
Best of all, they installed acoustic panels on the ceiling. It used to be so noisy when the place was full that you could hardly hear yourself. Owner Nanae Fralick told me that had been one of her complaints as a customer too.
As a bonus, the acoustic panels enable them to stay open an hour later. They are now open for dinner until 9pm. My night owl husband was happy to get an 8:30 seating.
And they’re serving breakfast! The cafe had stopped serving breakfast to the public years ago — they were only serving their inn guests. Can’t wait to give it a try.
It will be great to sit out on their deck this summer, enjoy the view over West Sound, and watch the Orcas Sailing Club running their practice sails. Then scamper down to the public beach to hunt for sea glass.

So excited that they’re open again- and thrilled to hear of the improvements in plating the fish tacos. LOVE those things but hated the soggy basket! Thanks for the linkage and see you soon 🙂
You are welcome! I’m looking forward to my octopus pendant this summer 🙂
